Armando Farina awards Pauline Thomas with Diploma

Armando Farina with the Diploma for Pauline Thomas

I am privileged and honoured this week to have received The Diploma of Academician Member of The International Academy Santarita, from Armando Farina, for artistic merit.
Unfortunately due to family committments I am unable to travel to Turin this week for the ceremony. However I have this evening received photographs from Turin showing Armando with my diploma and a reproduction of my painting Torn.
I have been honoured to work with Armando Farina over the past few years. Armando is one of the elite contemporary forward thinking artists of his time, often copied but never bettered. I was privileged to exhibit with Armando and his academy in Turin in 2009 and also the Science Museum of Freidano Settimo in 2013.
Torn was exhibited with Armando in 2009 as part of the International Art Exhibition “A Bridge Between Cultures and Differences” and subsequently sold to an art collector in Dubai just over a year ago by gallery manager Aileen Mitchell of the Art Gallery Tetbury and owner of Tyre 2 was also exhibited in Turin which sold in the same manner.
I look forward to receiving the diploma in the post and being academic member of The International Academy of Santarita.

Armando painted with Picasso. Produced murals for: “Sindone ’89” in Rome. “The Angel of Turin”, a 4m x 10m work for the Sacred Museum of Cracovia. “The heart of Jesus” measuring 90cm x 90cm, and on permanent display in the Vatican. Pinacoteca. “Stabat Mater “, a 1m square piece, within the Sanctuary of Pompeii, and several restorations carried out on various Frescoes in churches and castles around Turin and Piemonte.  He has exhibited alongside many masters including Mattia, Gilardi and Prada He has a network of galleries who distribute his paintings, who can be found in Rome, Bergamo, Milan, Taormina, Pesaro, Padova, Venice, Paris, Edinburgh, Düsseldorf, Sydney and New York and is regularly shown at art fairs in London, Edinburgh, New York, Cannes and Dublin, among others throughout continental Europe.

Artist Statement

Pauline Thomas is an abstract artist living in west Wales, UK, well known for her bold, powerful and thought provoking art. She has a passion for painting and the part of the world that she lives in. Her work can be found in private and public collections throughout the UK, Europe, USA and Dubai.

Her inspiration has been derived from her life in west Wales, her past work in the agricultural sector working within the changing landscape, weather and rhythm of the rural way of life and by the folklore and history of her surrounding communities. Other works have been inspired by places and events tempered by her personal experiences and emotions.

Pauline is self-taught and unafraid of experimenting in new ways of producing artwork, which has allowed her work to develop outside the confines of convention and enabled her to produce works of true originality.

Pauline was a finalist of the “UK Liberte d’ Expression Competition 2006″, selected for the International Art Competition “Hands Off” in 2007 and recognised as work of distinction in the Americas Biennial in 2008.

Her paintings have been used to decorate the lobbies of many major blue chip companies including Petro Canada London Bridge and Barclays Bank at Canary Wharf. Her work has also been used to illustrate calendars, web based advertisements and books e.g. “Origin of Cancer”, by Springer and “Pushing out the Boat”, a magazine for new writing. Many of her paintings are now successful in the interior design market, sold as fine art prints on paper or canvas by a number of art publishers.

Pauline’s artwork provokes thought and stimulates conversation, ideal for the collector, modern home or innovative business.
